Join Aoife Patterson for a Willow Workshop as part of the Arts Strand of Aughrim's Craic in the Granite Music & Arts Festival 2025!
The aim of this Willow Animal Making Workshop is to create a series of small woven animals from willow. We will be using traditional weaving techniques, to create miniature deer, fox, hare, fish and birds. The creatures that are made by the group will be used to inspire other artistic expressions as part of the wider activities around Craic in the Granite Music & Arts Festival 2025.
This workshop is led by Aoife Patterson. Aoife's work is inspired by the Irish landscape and traditional basketry. It explores many aspects of material culture, social history and cultural heritage that have shaped and influenced our attitudes towards traditional crafts, our built heritage, objects of cultural importance and our environment.
